Manages the operations of Central Sterile Processing and Surgical Services Sterile Processing. Responsible for ensuring all supplies, equipment and instruments ordered are replenished in an accurate and timely manner; that all specialty carts are cleaned, decontaminated, and restocked appropriately and correctly on a daily basis; that strict and proper procedures are followed for decontamination, sterilization, and storage of supplies, equipment, and instruments and instrument sets utilized throughout the Medical Center. Monitors and schedules preventative maintenance of equipment according to established parameters, and ensures instruments and equipment are maintained in proper working order at all times. Serves as a member of the Infection Control Committee. Works closely with O.R. personnel and surgeons to insure proper instrumentation and set make-up is correct and proper.
EDUCATION: Associate's Degree or two years of college in health care related field
EXPERIENCE: More than three years in Sterile Processing and/or Operating Room environment working with instrumentation and infection control procedures
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSURE, or REGISTRATIONS: Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) from the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM), or equivalent.
