Software Developer Job Summary:

3M HIS is seeking a Software Engineer who is highly motivated to help us pioneer the future of Health Care Information Technology.  We work with government agencies, insurance companies, provider networks and health care business partners to deliver software products that directly impact the future of health spending and patient care. Primary Responsibilities (Software Developer) include but are not limited to the following:

  • Participate in and/or lead technical brainstorming sessions to formulate designs that minimize maintenance, maximize code reuse and minimize testing time                                                                                                                                                      

  • Develop code according to business and technical requirements, create test data, perform unit/integration tests and collaborate with team to deliver high quality products

  • Performance and stress testing of assigned functionality to ensure client expectations are met for optimal software latency and resource utilization

  • Drive continuous improvement in processes and software, valuing automated unit tests, peer code reviews and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery

  • Participate in and/or lead client product/feature demonstrations

Basic Qualifications (Software Developer):

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited university OR High School Diploma/GED or higher from an accredited institution and a minimum of six (6) years of experience in software engineering in lieu of the Bachelor’s degree education requirement

  • Minimum of two (2) years of object-oriented software development experience (can include internship and course work) in a private, public, government or military environment

Preferred Qualifications (Software Developer):

  • Experience with Java software development

  • Proficient with at least one IDE (Eclipse, Netbeans, InteliJ) doing activities such as debugging, code completion, searching, etc

  • Experience with Web services (SOAP/REST)

  • Experience with JavaScript frameworks such as Angular, React JS,

  • Experience with Linux shell scripting

  • Experience using git and/or Team Foundation Server (TFS)

  • Experience with Gradle, Ant, or Maven

  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)

  • Familiar with SQL and relational database design

  • Knowledge of Agile methodology and experience working with distributed team members

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to solve problems in a logical, methodical, and time efficient manner

  • Potential to direct and influence others

Location: Meriden, CT

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic
