The Director of Advanced Engineering is the owner and authority for the design, testing, deployment, and troubleshooting of the elements that enable the lab. In this role, the Director will build and lead a talented team of design, facilities and DevOps engineers to support the testing and deployment of the WOW! products and features. The Director will also collaborate with vendors, engineering, software developers, quality assurance and engineering operations to coordinate and facilitate detailed technical planning in the execution of our products, features, and configurations. Primary responsibilities fall into the following categories:
ARC System Design and Development. In partnership with engineering, Develop and implement the application/network design documents as required for systems and features deployment of all aspects of ARC.
Direct a team of Engineers who are responsible for enabling interoperability tests as well as the CI-CD infrastructure for all aspects of WOW! products and services.
Define network and service impacts between engineering, IT, and other business teams.
Manages the Lab budget for development and implementation.
Prepares and presents business cases and feasibility analysis to directors and senior leadership team to gain the approval of capital expenditures and prioritize resources.
The successful Director will have:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in a technical discipline is required. Computer Science or Electrical Engineering degree (preferred).
10+ years of experience in the wireless industry
6+ years of technical management experience in a large corporate IP, IT or Wireless Service provider networking environment.
6+ years skilled at the management of RFI/RFP process, capital acquisitions, and contract negotiations.
Advanced leadership & management skills, including critical thinking, self-awareness, and team-focused
Mastery of Network Architecture, technologies, concepts, and industry standards.
Ability to work in a fast-paced development environment.
Ability to grasp new concepts and apply them immediately.
Ability to communicate (oral/written) effectively and to freely share knowledge and information.
Strong interpersonal skills and demonstration to be ambitious.
Ability to complete tasks with a sense of urgency.
Ability to interact with all levels of management.
Able to lead research and publication of technical papers
