Location: Lynnfield, Massachusetts
The Director of Gene therapy non-clinical research will drive gene therapy translational research efforts in rare diseases to advance candidates from proof of concept through IND and BLA enabling pharmacology, toxicology and biomarker studies to support clinical development. The successful candidate is expected to work collaboratively with colleagues in internal and external research, pharmacology, CMC, clinical and regulatory to develop nonclinical research and development plans to support project teams and regulatory filings.
The Director will design, execute, and interpret nonclinical studies for in-vitro and in-vivo studies supporting pharmacology, toxicology and biomarker studies.
He or she will work collaboratively with internal and external cross-functional sub teams, collaborators/consultants to plan and execute on the overall research and development plans. This individual will lead or actively participate in representing Nonclinical Research on cross-functional project teams and/or project sub teams.
This individual will also participate in program initiatives that further the strategic and business objectives of the company. The individual may be required to communicate program progress and issues to senior management, regulatory agencies as necessary, and at national and international conferences as appropriate.

PhD in Neuroscience or related fields in Genetics, Ocular, Molecular biology ,Pharmacology, Toxicology with a minimum of 5-10 years’ experience of preclinical research and development experience in pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry. Equivalent experience may be accepted.
