Job Description:

Job Description We are currently building our in-house Engineering staff and are looking for a talented Project Engineer to join our team. If you are looking for a way to accelerate your career and be part of a great company, this may be the opportunity for you.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead new connector and terminal product development projects as well as modifications and extension activities for legacy products through all product development phases required to bring concepts into production.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Develops documentation of the project scope, requirements, feasibility, & engineering workplan. Works directly with product management & the customer to capture needs and translates into an executable project.

* Lead concept development activities with some guidance from engineering manager. Expected to provide concepts that are manufacturable, cost effective, & meet customer requirements. Develops & communicates mitigation plan for areas of risk.

* Plans and leads DFMEA, FEAs ,Tolerance Analysis and other theoretical studies.

* Creates product models & drawings using GD&T methodology (Datum selection, dimensioning and tolerancing aligned with function).

* Prepares and follows engineering change requests (ECR) per document control procedures.

* Develop test plans (DVP&Rs) to validate product performance and analyze test results using statistical methods

* DOEs

* Hypothesis Testing

* Capability Studies

* Lead root cause analysis utilizing structured problem solving methods (8D, 5 Why, Fishbone)

* Act as the voice of engineering to cross functinal team members and customers to ensure design objectives are met.

* Identifies and provides feedback with recommendations to management of departmental needs.

* Coach / stimulate design engineers and aid their development through collaboration.

* Manage multiple projects simultaneously. Create / maintain engineering timelines, escalate barriers, and drive projects to completion.

* Work with Engineering Manager to plan resources

* Lead technical reviews with internal and external customers using effective verbal and written communication skills

Position Qualifications EDUCATION:

* Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent science degree required

* Master s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent science degree preferred

WORK EXPERIENCE:

* 5 years product design experience with depth of knowledge in material, mechanics, manufacturing processes, & engineering processes/tools (as defined in responsibilities) required

* 7 years automotive product design experience with depth of knowledge in material mechanics (plastics & metals), manufacturing processes (injection molding, stamping, plating), & engineering processes/tools (as defined in responsibilities) preferred

* 2 or more years in mentoring role to other design engineers preferred

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

* Act as the voice of engineering to cross functional team members and customers to ensure design objectives are met.
