Job Description:

The Y is now hiring for MOD’s.  Managers on Duty ensure the smooth operation of the branch by monitoring health & safety, member satisfaction, risk management, program and building coverage during assigned shifts.  All part time staff receive a free Y membership and invaluable experience!

Responsibilities include: Acting as the primary contact in an emergency and or crisis situation until the branch director is available; overseeing branch activities and maintains service standards by ensuring that: staff members have reported as scheduled, are in uniform and prepared to perform their duties, the facility is clean and free of clutter, all building systems are in working order, assisting the member service staff by greeting members, providing tours, assisting with membership sales and program registration, answering phones, responding to questions or concerns related to programs, schedules and procedures, performing a walk through of the building no less than once an hour completing the required checklists, performing an Aquatic Audit every shift.


  • Must be at least 21 years old; must have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED); and at least a year of experience in a customer service setting, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Must be proficient in MS Word and database programs.

  • Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid; O2 certification

  • Listen First training must be completed within the first 90 days.

  • Passionate belief in the Y’s cause of nurturing the potential of all youth, supporting healthy living for all people and finding ways to help and support our neighbors.

  • Understanding of the nature and purpose of the YMCA and the respective roles of volunteers and staff.

  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

  • Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others.

  • Ability to foster a collaborative team approach to solving challenging situations.
