Location: Bloomington, Indiana
This position is responsible for serving as the administrative face of the Indiana Memorial Union (IMU) during the overnight hours of 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., otherwise referred to as third shift. This posting is for Friday and Saturday nights with the option to pick up more shifts if needed. The position reports to the Graduate Building Manager who supervises the team of Night Security Managers and Student Assistant Building Managers.
The Night Security Manager help to facilitate communication between various departments within the IMU to assure efficient and effective operations. As part of this responsibility, Night Security Managers must be able to operate a computer and complete a report log detailing duties they performed during their shift including routine procedures, unusual events, accidents, thefts, damages, illnesses, complaints, compliments or any other information or issues which need to be called to the attention of other IMU staff members.
A Night Security Manager serve a security and safety role in the building assuring that facility spaces are secured and locked, addressing policy violations, responding to emergency situations, and routinely moving about the building to provide a presence in the building. As a component of this function, Night Security Managers are trained in First Aid, CPR/AED, and Biohazards to appropriately handle any emergency situation which may arise. Training is provided if needed.
Customer service is another vital aspect of the Night Security position. Night Security Managers are expected to address any customer concerns or complaints and work with fellow staff members to effectively resolve these situations. They also help direct traffic in the facility as well as assist patrons to successfully navigate through the building.
Because this position is an integral part of night and weekend operations at the IMU, we are looking for someone who is responsible, dedicated, a self-initiator, and can effectively collaborate and work with other members of the IMU team. This person must also have a positive, friendly attitude due to the highly relational nature of this position. Night Security Managers and Building Managers are representatives of the IMU and the university and are expected to act accordingly.
REQUIRED: Customer service experience.Preferred Qualifications
