Location: Bloomington, Indiana
Removes dirty linens and remakes beds. Cleans and disinfects bathrooms. Reports status of rooms. Writes report required of room status and items needing repair or special cleaning process. Cleans hallways, corridors, elevator, elevator landing, storage areas and exercise room. Removes all trash from room. Vacuums and dusts. Restocks hotel room with clean linens, amenities, and paper products. Restocks housekeeper carts, deposits soiled linens and trash down chute. Identifies and reports items within hotel that need repair or special cleaning and other duties as assigned.
It is very important that the established policies, procedures, and standards are strictly followed. This position helps prepare guest rooms and hotel corridors for daily occupancy, sometimes under pressure to complete the process quickly. Guest service and revenue are negatively impacted if guest rooms are not ready by our guaranteed 4pm check-in time as work cannot be held over for the next day. Work must be completed within the customers' guarantee of availability. Guest service would be negatively affected if sleeping rooms were not clean or sanitary. Hotel revenues and hotel occupancy would be negatively affected if sleeping rooms were not clean and ready for occupancy according to established standards.
General knowledge at the high school level.
Able to understand and follow instructions. Strong communication skills. Able to manage time effectively and able to work without direct supervision. Knowledge of hotel housekeeping processes and standards of cleanliness. Knowledge of MSDS for cleaning supplies.Preferred Qualifications
High school diploma or GED. Custodial experience. Two years hotel/motel housekeeping experience.Working Conditions / Physical Demands
Must be able to work with strong cleansers and disinfectants. Must be able to climb stairs, do heaving lifting, and move furniture. Heavy lifting requirement 100lbs. A successful candidate will be able to walk and stand for long periods of time in addition to being able to push, pull, lift, stoop, bend and reach.
