Job Description:

The Customer Master Data Domain Lead of the Enterprise Data Organization (EDO) at TreeHouse Foods (THS) is responsible for leading a team and the organization through the management and governance of Customer Master Data across all Business and IT functions. This role will be responsible for implementing best practices and driving the vision of the Customer Master Data EDO including, but not limited to Data Architecture, Data Quality, Data Standards, Data Strategy, and Governance.

This position will interact with business stakeholders from Accounts Receivable, Customer Service, Go-to-Market (GTM), Marketing, Pricing, Sales, Treasury, other Financial Shared Services Towers, as well as additional departments to promote and enforce a strategic data agenda for Customers. The EDO has the responsibility to control policies, processes, standards, and technologies related to customer master data.

Additionally, the role is responsible for ensuring customer data is strategically used to achieve the business' objectives which include: business transformation, continuous improvement, and initiatives such as pricing analytics, customer profitability, freight optimization, and other customer-specific data projects.

Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Align the Customer Master Data and EDO vision & strategy with the Organization's strategic vision by translating the businesses overarching strategies into data management policies and actions
  • Ensure accurate customer master data by utilizing a formal governance program that identifies and assigns the appropriate business owner of each data field and overall design and strategy for each data domain
    • Specifies the frequency that each data field needs to be reviewed and ensure it is correct and in accordance with the global standard data definitions
    • Develop, implement, and train business owners in the use of global standard automated workflows to regulate the change, creation, extension and extinction process and procedures so that only approved and accurate data is uploaded, approved, and maintained by the appropriate business owners
    • Train business owners on the global data definitions for the data fields they own
    • Set maintenance policies around each customer data field
  • Effectively roll out customer data governance practices across the EDO, business stakeholders, and data stewards to enforce and uphold standards
  • Measure progress toward Customer Data & Governance program metrics, setting a baseline, and linking these metrics to business benefit and data value metrics
  • Develop and implement consistent global standard THS procedures, processes, and policies for creating, changing, reviewing, and extending customer master data across all THS ERP platforms
  • Serve as lead authority on data governance for the customer master data domains in SAP and other systems in the future
  • Develop standardized roles, responsibilities, and standard user profiles
  • Develop and implement a periodic review of all customer data to ensure it is current and accurate across all applicable functions and divisions as well as provide metrics to assure the reviews are completed
  • Works with internal and external stakeholders to identify and prioritize eBusiness projects and needs including but not limited to; IDoc communication between SAP and Legacy Systems/3rd Party Providers
  • Provide work direction and guidance to direct reports and divisional resources to ensure completion of assigned tasks and other duties
  • Responsible for policy and procedure development reviews/improvements and facilitating procedure updates with process owners
  • Assure all company personnel are adequately trained in the principles, policies, and procedures of the configuration management system
  • Support Business projects including integrations, SAP rollouts, etc. and driving the end to end data strategy for each project including sequencing, conversions, interfaces, cleansing, and deduplication
  • Work with IT to develop and implement data security processes and procedures
  • Drive process improvement, excellence, and data quality
  • Provide operations with timely and accurate service
  • Other duties as assigned


Skills, Experience, Abilities, and Education:
  • Experience in successfully communicating complex technical concepts, processes, and procedures to all levels of audiences from senior executives to end-users
  • Ability to work with business stakeholders to develop a comprehensive Customer Data Strategy, that enables the business to reach goals while returning high levels of value from the data investment
  • Ability to clearly and accurately define problems by collecting data, facts and the ability to develop and implement solutions to those problems
  • Must be able to interpret data and apply statistical functions as it applies to the position
  • Ability to work in/lead a team environment across a large and complex organization
  • Ability to grow senior data resources within the organization
  • Drives continuous improvement
  • Experience managing a large organizations budget
  • Strict adherence to process, approvals, and audit
  • Strong understanding of data relationships; master data vs. transactional
  • SAP Master Data Management and project lifecycle experience
  • SAP Implementation experience and/or acquisition integration experience preferred
  • 5+ years' experience effectively working with and implementing master data systems, processes and procedures across functions preferred; e xperience implementing automated work preferred
  • 3+ Customer Service, Accounts Receivable, Sales (in an SAP-based environment), or Information Technology Management experience preferred
  • Bachelors Required: Finance, Information Technology, or other related
  • Occasional travel dependent on business needs: 25% or less
