Job Description:

•This position will be accountable for organizing, planning, and directing the manufacturing engineering function to optimize the planned utilization of the plant and equipment, while ensuring environmental and safety standards are met. In this position, you will provide strategies that work in a high mix, low volume machining environment and you will develop and execute strategies to use within the Meritor Production System that meet the company vision and long term strategic goals. This position requires the use of lean manufacturing principles to reduce costs, minimize inventory, maximize throughput, and optimize facility utilization.

Job Responsibilities:

•Manage the manufacturing, plant engineering, and maintenance functions and supervise departmental engineers.

•Prepare the plant Capital Planning and appropriation requests.

•Establish and attain departmental goals.

•Provide technical and managerial leadership.

•Responsible for the facilities adherence to all environmental regulations.

•Develop an energy conservation program.

•Provide and implement continuous improvement ideas and direction for manufacturing.

•Be a contributing member and leader of a continuous improvement culture.

•Design and implement efficient processes using lean manufacturing principles and the Meritor Production System (MPS) to provide improvement opportunities to increase production efficiencies, eliminate waste, reduce inventory, improve delivery performance, improve quality and improve safety and ergonomics.

•Utilize value stream mapping to identify and eliminate waste.

•Lead cross-functional teams to implement 5S improvements, standard work, set-up reduction, and problem solving/rapid change Kaizen activities.

•Provide input for make vs. buy decisions.

•Evaluate current-state plant layouts and develops future state designs using the principles of Lean manufacturing from raw materials to the end customer and expand production control for all product families within the facility.
