INVISTA is looking for an entrepreneurial individual with high integrity and strong organizational, interpersonal, and planning skills to fill the position of Site Machinery Engineer at the Victoria, TX, facility. This position is part of the Reliability Technical Group, reporting directly to the Reliability Engineering Manager, and will work with all levels of the organization to create value by improving the reliability performance of site machinery. This critical technical role will have responsibilities to first and foremost protect health and safety of our workforce, the community, and environment.
A Day In The Life Typically Includes:
Champion initiatives that seeks to achieve our vision for environmental, health and safety as applied to Mechanical Integrity and reliability of machinery assets.
Lead and own the site machinery improvement plans to ensure compliance and where possible apply economic thinking to capture value. Collaborate with Operations Excellence SMEs to identify improvement opportunities that is integrated to overall activities.
Leverage RAGAGEP to evaluate cost effective strategies and technology are deployed to improve overall life cycle cost of machinery assets.
Provide leadership, coaching and collaborate in the RCFA process with operators, maintenance mechanics, technicians, engineers and site leader to ensure causes of failure are identified and effective and systematic strategies are applied to optimize life cycle cost.
Support Reliability Center teams, Maintenance team and Turnaround and project process by providing technical guidance and engineering solutions.
Mentor and coach for members of the reliability technical group as well as mechanical maintenance technicians.
Institutionalize scopes of work and strategies for our critical equipment in a way that improves MTBF and provides sustained quality assurance and condition monitoring, inspection, and testing.
Champion and provide oversight to critical overhaul scopes leveraging risk based inspections, GE System One and Prognost health monitoring and historical performance insights.
Champion and lead the site in deploying technology to improve reliability and health monitoring as well as deploy predictive analytics.
What You Will Need:
B.S. in engineering or 4 year engineering technology from an accredited college or university
Experience with maintaining, troubleshooting, and repair of rotating and reciprocating equipment including pumps, centrifugal compressors, turbines and blowers.
5+ years in petrochemical, oil and gas and/or refinery industries.
Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting rotating and reciprocating machinery, technical oversight during major overhauls and familiar with industry RAGAGEP for rotating and reciprocating equipment.
Experience conducting complex root cause analysis investigations and implementation of effective corrective action strategies.
Must be able to maneuver in congested areas of equipment to view job activities in the field.
Must be willing to travel 5-10% to OEM and machinery vendor repair and testing facilities.
Must be able to climb stairs and/or ladders in or around operating units.
Ability to enter/move about in confined spaces, and wear/use personal protective equipment (such as; steel toe shoes, Fall Protection Harness, Safety glasses, goggles, earplugs) with or without reasonable accommodations
Ability to work in extreme temperatures and weather conditions for various periods of time
Must be willing to work periodic workdays more than 8 hours
Must be willing to relocate to the Victoria, TX area
What Will Put You Ahead?
Experience in OSHA PSM 1910.119 requirements for machinery.
Gas turbine generator overhaul and contract oversight experience.
Experience applying economic thinking in applying time based preventative task as well as condition based task for machinery.
Working knowledge and use of compliance and engineering standards (ASME, ASTM, ASNT, PIP, API, OSHA, EPA, and other RAGAGEP’s)
