Our Process Engineer will be working with the Operations team to identify and implement continuous improvement and process optimization opportunities. Process Engineers are expected to uphold our Ballast Point standards and following our Code of Conduct, Employee Handbook policies and procedures, along with Ballast Point’s Mission and Values.
Ensure operations processes meet all safety and quality criteria.
Analyze and interpret process and manufacturing data to identify opportunities for brewery improvement projects, process changes, and new technologies to achieve increased productivity, reduced product loses, enhanced manufacturing flexibility and capacity, improved product quality, safer operations, and improved environmental compliance.
Provide technical leadership to plant operators and technicians
Improve packaging equipment efficiencies and calculate OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness)
Provide technical engineering consultation, troubleshooting, and leadership to brewery personnel on brewing, filtering, and cleaning operations to solve production problems as they arise.
Explore and implement new process technologies and equipment (and optimize existing) that will improve our quality, efficiency, yields, cycle times, or margins
Provide project management support for engineering projects
Facilitate productive working relationships with local business partners and other key suppliers and regulatory agencies.
Monitor and report system performance and metrics.
Ensure adherence to corporate manufacturing process standards.
Create and/or maintain accurate SOP’s.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Computer Science or minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience
Team player with good interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrated coaching and mentoring skills
Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as with others
3-5 years engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
Experience in brewing, brewing supplier, food/beverage production, or consumer packaged goods
Knowledge of Manufacturing Data Acquisition and Communication Networks
Ability to work outside of standard operating hours to support line stoppage or equipment down situations
Knowledge of world class operating principles including six-sigma, 5s, lean manufacturing, and/or value stream mapping
Must be at least 21 years of age. Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time and work on a computer for extended periods. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
