Job Description:

Prudential Financial is seeking a strategic Director of Communications to lead a Communications Channels, Content and Events Center of Expertise. This role is responsible for leading and developing a small, dynamic team of communications professionals, including managing the flow of work to and from the team and ensuring optimal use of communications channels to engage and inspire internal audiences. The role will report directly to the Vice President of Workplace Solutions Communications and can be based in Roseland, NJ; Newark, NJ, Dresher, PA, or Hartford, CT.

 

The Director of Communications will be expected to be a collaborative partner within and outside of the Workplace Solutions Communications team, and should have expertise in delivering compelling communications messages through a range of channels, including events, video, webcasts, intranet, social, etc. The role includes working closely with the entire Communications team to deliver appropriate executive messaging and employee engagement communications that align with the Group Insurance, Retirement and Workplace Solutions communications strategies and business objectives.

 

Responsibilities include:


  • Day to day management and development of the team; development, deployment and measurement of internal communications programs

  • Hands-on involvement in key major events, video production, digital communications and oversight of intranet

  • Collaborate with Communications Relationship Managers to deliver engaging content.

  • Proactively manage Communications Channels – leveraging industry best practices for various channels and tactics and employee insights to engage and inspire employees and working with teammates to maintain key internal relationships (e.g. video production, intranet support, etc.)

  • Introduce creative tactics to boost engagement

  • Establish repeatable metrics to inform future programs

  • Build collaborative working relationships with senior business leaders across Group Insurance, Retirement and WSG

  • Provide coaching and growth opportunities to high performing team

  • Be an integral and active participant on the WSG Communications team

  • Ensure content is in alignment with corporate brand messaging


  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or similar discipline

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of internal communications experience

  • Strong project and program management experience

  • Client service mentality and a demonstrated ability to influence others without direct authority, gain consensus among diverse groups and constituents

  • Outstanding interpersonal, client relationship building, partnering and collaboration skills; strong ability to work well in a cross-functional, team-based environment

  • Experience supporting senior leaders is critical

  • Strong experience directly managing people

  • Ability to present concepts and communicate with clarity and impact to all levels of associates

  • Experience managing communications or MarComm campaigns

  • Experience in several of the following: Events, Video Production, Social, Digital & Multi-Media communications

  • Strong attention to detail
