Description

As a Construction Engineer in Flatiron's Construction Engineering Group, located in our Broomfield, Colorado office, you will have the opportunity to support multiple projects within the heavy civil construction sector. You will support ongoing projects through calculations and designs for structures such as, false-work, shoring and cofferdams. You will also provide support for means and methods and design for constructability.

Responsibilities

  • Perform calculations and prepare plans for temporary structures such as formwork, falsework, cofferdams and other support of excavation structures, and specialized material lifting and handling devices
  • Deliver designs within budget, project, and quality constraints
  • Perform constructability reviews to improve structural details of temporary works
  • Develop pre-bid temporary works designs, and construction means and methods
  • Coordinate design efforts with project personnel
  • Evaluate manufacturer's, equipment, or subcontractor's proposals, data, and reports for conformance with company and client
  • Maintain engineering records, lists and schedules for engineering projects
  • Prepare written reports and submittals for designs including calculations and drawings
  • Supervise the preparation of written reports and submittals for designs prepared by other Engineers
  • May coordinate work of drafters, designers, technical assistants, engineers, subcontractors; including work assignments, scheduling, and review under limited supervision of the engineering manager
  • May carry out supervisory or mentoring responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; disciplinary actions; addressing complaints and resolving problems

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related field, from an accredited institution and 5 or more years related experience in the design and/or construction sector for heavy civil projects
  • Intermediate knowledge of AutoCAD and structural analysis software
  • Active Professional Engineer License is required
