Job Description:

POSITION TITLE: Designer - AE Studio

REPORTS TO: Senior Designer - Conceptual Design


Conceptual fast-track designer for the AE Studio strategy of American Eagle Outfitters.


-Research, compile, present and execute a cohesive monthly collection from beginning to end that pushes new ideas and trends not found in the mainline.

-Work with multiple venders in order to execute the collection; Picking fabric, color, print, graphics, trims, accessories, fit, etc.

-See each collection from beginning to end; manage all on-going product development with production partner, compile all documentation needed for buy meetings, technical pass off, color/pattern charts, outfitting, marketing, etc.

-Present each collection to Merchant and Design partners for buy meetings.

-Work with Marketing and Visual to pull together initial marketing & photoshoot direction; Covering outfitting, model selection, background and overall look and feel; Travel to photoshoot to make sure it's executed correctly.

-Attend all milestone meetings, line reviews, booking meetings and conceptual kickoffs in order to have up to date knowledge of what's been presented, adopted and in the current line.

-Travel & research: Attend relevant tradeshows, events, and cities to pull inspiration for collections.

-Build an evolving library of key research data; Social influencers, brands, stores, events, etc. in order to keep on top of what's next.

-Partner with the rest of the concept team when required.


-Must have knowledge of PLM/Tradestone and adobe creative cloud.

-Have worked in a fast fashion environment across multiple categories in the teen sector at least 3+ years.

-Must be able to research, compile and seek out new and relevant trends in the market; Have in-depth knowledge of runway, street and social trends that are relevant to our brand and customer.

-Have extensive knowledge about fit, fabric and silhouette across multiple categories.

-Must have a good sense of color and pattern.

-Must be a self-starter and a forward thinker; Able to work in a fast paced environment and be able to balance working on multiple seasons and projects at the same time while managing to meet tight calendar deadlines.

-Must be highly organized, able to prioritize, and detail oriented.

-Must be able to work with multiple departments and cross-functional teams.

-Ability to travel; Venders, tradeshows, shop trips, events for research and development.
