Summary:

Under the direction of management, the Staff Accountant I has the primary responsibility of applying principles of accounting, to include lease and job cost accounting, to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare journal entries within the general ledger and the job cost sub-ledger.



  • Complete month-end close within time frame established.



  • Prepare monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy.



  • Prepare monthly bank account reconciliations.



  • Prepare schedules for quarterly external audit review and year – end audit.



  • Prepare quarterly and annual schedules for the internal Tax department.



  • Assist with Sarbanes Oxley documentation and testing requirements, which includes step-by-step process reviews for external and internal auditors.



  • Participate in both required and elective training and development opportunities.



  • Other projects and duties as assigned.



Statutory Reporting (if applicable):



  • Assist with coordinating activities related to the reconciliation of the U.S. GAAP Trial Balance and the Local GAAP Trial Balance in order to identify and explain differences and correct differences that are deemed to be errors or omissions.



  • Assist with the review of local office Fixed Asset schedules to verify the existence of fixed assets, and to trace items back to the general ledger balance. Ensure the schedule(s) are up-to-date and are in compliance with reporting schedules.



  • Assist with coordination of deadlines with local office staff, local accountant and corporate office staff to ensure all deliverables are satisfied.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience for External Hires:



  • BA/BS degree in Accounting.



  • 0-3 years’ of general Accounting experience.



  • Demonstrated intermediate knowledge and proficiency with MS Outlook, MS Word & MS Excel.



  • Great Plains and Wensoft job costing system experience preferred.



Education and/or Experience for Internal Hires:



  • HS Diploma/GED and Technical Certification in Accounting or active enrollment in an Associates or Bachelor’s degree program in Accounting.



  • 1-2 years’ of general Accounting experience.



  • Demonstrated intermediate knowledge and proficiency with MS Outlook, MS Word & MS Excel.



  • Great Plains and Wensoft job costing system experience preferred.


 

Language Skills:



  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.



  • English and Spanish required.



Mathematical Skills:



  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area and volume.



Reasoning Ability:



  • Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
