Job Description:
The Financial Analysis Manager will play a key role in managing the annual Profit Plan, monthly Forecasts and reporting that provides senior management with appropriate visibility into Northern Trust's financial results and expectations. This individual will be instrumental in shaping the processes and activities required to deliver the financial results and projections in a high quality, timely and efficient manner.
The incumbent will work closely with senior Finance management and will have significant exposure to senior leadership of the firm. The role requires the ability to understand the big picture, while being very detail-oriented. The right candidate must be an effective business partner, clear communicator, and be able to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. The position will report to the Management Reporting, Planning & Analysis (MRP&A) Manager.

Major Duties

• Produce accurate and detailed consolidated management reporting and analysis. Partner with the Corporate Accounting team through the month-end close process.
• Work with the Business Unit CFOs on coordination and execution of Forecasts and Plan submissions, driving toward consistency and timeliness.
• Establish and communicate guidelines and calendars as it relates to monthly performance reporting, Forecasts and the annual Plan.
• Identify opportunities to streamline existing processes to drive efficiencies.
• Collaborate with Finance IT to identify, analyze and suggest solutions that will increase efficiency and /or enhance reporting and analysis capabilities for all users of our financial systems.
• Lead, coach and develop a team of analysts.

Experience Required

• 10 years of related experience.
• Experience in the Financial Services industry is a plus.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting; MBA, CFA or CPA a plus.
• Cognos, Hyperion HFM, TM1 knowledge is a plus.


• Strong communications skills (written and verbal) with the ability to understand and communicate to various constituencies.
• Ability to execute deliverables with tight turnarounds, and manage multiple tasks in condensed time frames.
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
• Substantial experience with Excel and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of advanced accounting and finance obtained through an advanced degree or related work experience is required.
