Job Description:

Bring your excellent customer service experience to UW Health and assist patients and family members.

We are seeking an Temporary Guest Services Specialist to:


  • Provide excellent customer services to patients, family members, guest, and staff.

  • Direct customers to clinic appointments, inpatient rooms, waiting areas, meetings and common areas.

  • Verify appointment information and destinations in Health Link

  • Validate parking tickets and assign inpatient parking passes in compliance with policy.

  • Transport and escort patients and visitors to and from various areas at University Hospital and American Family Children’s Hospital.

  • Receive incoming phone calls and acts according to needs of callers.

  • Transport patients to their destination as needed.

Education:

Minimum - High School Diploma or equivalent

Work Experience:

Minimum – Six (6) months customer service or related experience

 

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:


  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to self-direct to accomplish the coordination and decision-making responsibilities of the position.

  • Typing/keyboarding skills.

  • Excellent customer services skills required including the ability to work with families under stress.

  • Knowledge of and ability to use computers and a variety of computer programs, including word processing, database management, and spreadsheets.

  • Strong organizational skills required.

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality as well as the privacy needs of families and patients.

  • Ability to use and recognize medical terminology.

Physical Requirements:

Sedentary: Ability to lift up to 10 pounds maximum and occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as dockets, ledgers and small tools.  Although a sedentary job is defined as one, which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and other sedentary criteria are met.

 

Ability to stand and walk long distances frequently throughout work shift.

 

Work Schedule:

22.5% FTE, Averaging 9 hours per week. Week One Schedule: Saturday 9:00 am-3:00 pm, Week Two schedule: Saturday 9:00 am-3:00 pm and Sunday 3:00 pm-9:00 pm
