JOB SUMMARY:  API’s work protects soldiers, explore space and save lives by manufacturing microelectronics components.  It is our goal to provide our interns with valuable “real world” work experience while collaborating with and being mentored by company experts.  During the internship, interns will also own or influence key projects specific to their interests and education.  API is seeking an energetic and dynamic student to bring new thoughts and processes to our workforce. 


API Technologies is seeking an Industrial Engineering student to tactically lead an exciting beta program. In collaboration with multiple business levels this intern will interview employees to understand processes and translate them into visually-based guides that will improve standardization and help train employees to new manufacturing processes.  


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position.  This is not a complete listing of all responsibilities and/or duties required.  Other duties may be assigned.



  • Develop visually based guides to improve standardization and training process. 

  • Collaborate across multiple levels: operations, engineering, quality, manufacturing, and human resources to understand processes, best practices, and challenges then translate information. 

  • Present findings from reviewing existing documentation and interviewing stake holders. 

  • Make recommendations on opportunities to improve documentation and processes. 

  • Prioritize project goals and processes assigned by manager to contribute to the overall success of API.

  • Able to work as a self-starter with the willingness and flexibility to do whatever is needed

  • Desire to learn and grow professionally

  • Strong organizational and communication skill

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Education: JR., Sr., or Graduate Student pursuing degree from accredited college/university.

  • Major: Industrial Engineering

  • Overall cumulative GPA: 3.0/4.0 or higher

  • Be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 8 weeks

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 



  • Overall cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher

  • Previous internship or related work experience in manufacturing

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  Office & Manufacturing Based


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  



  • Required to walk and use hands to finger, handle or feel

  • Able to lift, twist and bend with 30-50 pounds

  • Able to be on feet for extended periods of time

  • See clearly close up along with depth and distance perception
