Primary Job Functions:

First Solar is offering co-op/internship experiences to bright and talented students, with a passion for learning. The positions will allow students to gain a valuable blend of technical and business experience in the field of solar energy, and allow them to demonstrate their skills for future career opportunities at First Solar. A mentor will coach students through assignments that are designed to integrate classroom theory with practical work.

Expected Length of Internship:

Positions available for 2019 Summer/Fall (June through Mid-December), in First Solar’s Perrysburg, OH Manufacturing and Technology Center (near Toledo).

  • As an internship company, we allow flexibility to enroll in classes while working as an intern, as long as it doesn’t interfere with the essential functions of the position.

Required Experience:    

  • Completion of Sophomore year, minimum

Required Education:


  • Engineering Discipline, Supply Chain Management, or Quality Management Undergraduate students

  • Overall G.P.A. greater than or equal to 3.00 (based upon 4.0 scale)

  • Preference may be given to candidates who are available to fulfill multiple terms

  • First Solar encourages all interns to register with their University.

Required Skills/Competencies:


  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including written communication

  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams to deliver concrete project deliverables in a timely manner

  • Willingness to learn

  • Flexible and adaptable

  • Ability to identify, diagnose, and solve problems

  • Demonstrates an analytic approach to problem solving

  • Proficient use of all Microsoft Office suite programs

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required

  • Ability to travel within the US

Basic Internship Scope (Project):


  • Assist in managing Supplier Quality workflows, conduct data analysis and present and publish data

  • Participate in supplier visits under the supervision of a Supplier Quality Engineer

  • Generate Supplier Quality System nonconforming product (NCP) and corrective action reports and assist in reporting metrics

  • Assist Supplier Quality Engineers with ISO 9001 internal audits, external supplier audits and supplier continual conformance audits

  • Assist with Supplier Quality Systems maintenance

  • Work collaboratively with multiple departments within First Solar

  • Work with experienced professionals in the performance of responsibilities; check in regularly with assigned mentor

  • Upon the completion of this internship, the intern is required to present their accomplishments and project summary to the leadership team.

Office Physical Requirements:

All positions in our office require interaction with people and technology while either standing or sitting.
