Mechanical Technician 199645

As a Mechanical Technician you will manage/lead/be responsible to troubleshoot, inspect, maintain, repair and document work on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment involved in the operations of a pharmaceutical facility.  Utilizes several trade skills such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, heating and cooling.

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career.  These responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Observe and test machinery and equipment and analyze information obtained from operators to diagnose malfunctions and equipment problems.

  • Execute PM instructions based on maintenance schedules.

  • Disassemble machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairs.  Examine parts for defects such as breakage and excessive wear. Repair and replace broken and malfunctioning components.

  • Reassemble equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs.  Operate newly repaired machinery and equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs.

  • Record repairs and maintenance performed.  Record parts and materials used, and order new parts and materials as necessary.

  • Study blueprints and manufacturers’ manuals to determine correct installation and operation of machinery.

  • Design and machine fixtures, tooling, and experimental parts to meet special engineering needs and support facility operations.  Operate milling equipment, lathes, welding, sheet metal equipment, and other machine tools.

  • Participate in the planning and installation of new equipment, writing and performing of technical procedures and change controls.

  • Complete process improvement projects to increase equipment efficiency, availability and reliability.

  • Support and meet departmental, plant and corporate HS&E goals.  Work in a safe and efficient manner.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

  • 5 years of facility maintenance experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Electromechanical Technology, Machine Tool Technology, or related field

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to repair and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform basic electrical repairs like sensor replacements, electrical connections, motor wiring and others.

  • Demonstrated skill in interpreting and applying specifications, blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions in order to perform installation, repair, and modification work.

  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, email, internet).

  • Demonstrated knowledge of safety compliance.

  • Good oral and written communication skills.

  • Preferred knowledge of pharmaceutical facility equipment and systems including HVAC systems, domestic and purified water systems, compressed air systems, boiler operations, lean manufacturing practices, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) including validation issues and change control processes
