Flint Hills Resources (FHR) is looking for a Large Capital Project Engineer who will provide engineering support for one or more capital projects ($10MM – 200MM TIC) in order to help the project(s) achieve business and operational objectives.
Location: Pine Bend (Rosemount, MN)


A Day In The Life Typically Includes:


Working closely with other Project Team members to help the Project Manager develop a Project Execution Plan and heavy involvement with the engineering contractor to support the engineering and procurement effort.  This will require active involvement at the engineering contractor office to answer specific engineering development questions, review of the EPC’s work status and progress, follow up on and help resolve P&ID review, HAZOP, model review, vendor/fabricator design, etc. issues and questions that come up during the engineering design phases of a project.

During the construction phase of the project, the project engineer helps resolve construction questions/issues related to the engineering design and participates in the MOC/PSSR effort to help complete the construction effort. 

The project engineer also helps the Project Manager with the project close out efforts including assuring that the proper documentation is retained for the project.


What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of project engineering work experience on project execution

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering

  • Demonstrated work experience utilizing a phased/gated project execution model

This role is subject to the Transportation Workers Identification Credentialing rule or “TWIC” and requires the successful candidate to obtain a TWIC identification badge, allowing for unescorted access to the facility within a specific time period.


What Will Put You Ahead?

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a process manufacturing environment where responsibilities involved Operations, Maintenance or Engineering

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, chemical, electrical, or civil engineering

  • Interdisciplinary knowledge or background (mechanical, chemical, instrumentation, electrical, etc.)

  • Motivation to find and pursue opportunities to improve project competitiveness
