What you’ll do on a typical day:
Identify process improvement opportunities, coordinate project resources on assigned projects, develop engineered standards for facility process areas; develop, maintain, and optimize facility layout; plan, execute, and perform project management responsibilities as assigned
Ensure the highest possible service level to the client while operating within the contractual requirements by understanding the customer’s wants and needs, and how to best support those deliverables within the agreed upon solution
Solve engineering problems independently to facilitate expected project completion dates; identify facility design requirements based on activity levels, productive envelope, product flow, and transportation methods; develop building layout and power requirements, and produce AutoCAD layout to be used by various teams to implement start-up; specify material handling and storage equipment, and up fit requirements; create equipment and operating supply lists, and purchase requisitions; work with facilities engineering to develop and/or specify equipment requirements
Determine start-up and ongoing personnel requirements based on activity levels and product profile; identify management and supervisory requirements for Operations personnel
Configure cartonization table data, location logic table data, strategies, commodity table data, and system flag settings for functionality; work with IT team to identify and document new IT functionality not currently available; identify changes to existing functionality currently available; test IT solutions and functionality for WMS, OMS, and TMS
Specify packing methods to be used based on mode/method of transportation and product profile; specify containers/cartons and packaging (void fill) medium requirements; identify outbound labeling/documentation requirements; provide annual cost estimates for packing materials
Support and work in partnership with operations management and supervisors to train on, learn, collectively develop, and continuously improve the best processes and work instructions for inclusion into the QMS system to support the site’s AS9100/ISO9001 environment
What you need to succeed at XPO:
At a minimum, you’ll need:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
2 years of experience in distribution center design and implementation
Experience with project and resource management
Experience with analytical tools such as flow charts, Pareto charts, cause and effect diagrams, run charts, etc.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD
Extensive experience in quality, engineering, LEAN and work cell manufacturing, and best practices in a high-volume production environment
Experience in an AS9100 or ISO-9001 production environment
It’d be great if you also have:
Availability to travel up to 75% of the time
Experience in day to day operational support to operations management
Experience using MS Access and/or MS SQL, Oracle, and AS400 platforms
