The Mechanical Project Engineer is responsible for supporting the research, specification, purchase, installation, and testing of new capital manufacturing equipment, as well as supporting the maintenance and upgrading of existing equipment and plant facilities necessary to advance the manufacturing capabilities and strategic growth of Arconic's Titanium facilities.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Develop & apply project management techniques and organizational skills to manage the development and documentation of project scope, design specifications, cost estimates, vendor evaluation & selection, schedule, budget, forecast and installation of industrial manufacturing equipment and machine controls;

  • Support equipment installation activities including internal/external labor & contractor(s), scheduling, conflict resolution, scope management, equipment testing & acceptance, and overall project costs;

  • Participate in the recommendation of new equipment or modifications to existing equipment to improve product quality, yield, productivity, throughput, safety, cost reductions, energy management, etc. while achieving economic justification requirements;

  • Provide technical expertise to improve and optimize manufacturing operations and processes at a plant level. Active leadership role in initiating process improvements in quality, productivity, troubleshooting, cost reduction, and operator engagement.

  • Provide engineering support to operations and maintenance functions and assist in troubleshooting major equipment breakdowns or other technical issues;

  • Troubleshoot production and process problems; communicate with management, quality, and product engineering regarding run problems, investigate root causes and recommends and helps implement corrective actions. Integrate new technology or new practices into existing processes.

  • Manufacturing support may include direct interface with and technical monitoring of both internal and external shops to promote efficient equipment design & development, mitigate non-conformances, and provide disposition as necessary;

  • Interact with all levels of employees to participate in creative brainstorming sessions, perform proof-of-concept calculations, analyze system layouts, and improve plant and equipment;

  • Participate in project safety reviews, safety inspections, and other applicable safety programs. Provide leadership to ensure that safety is considered in all aspects of projects.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution;

  • Minimum 3 years of engineering experience;

  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position;

  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills;

  • Minimum 3 years of applicable mechanical engineering experience;

  • Understanding of complex tasks within a dynamic project environment;

  • Basic knowledge of mechanical/electrical/hydraulic schematics and principles;

  • Attention to detail and ability to rapidly respond to project demands and problems;

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite and AutoCAD; working knowledge of MS Project a plus.
