Your responsibilities

thyssenkrupp Elevator Americas is currently seeking an experienced Cost Accoutant III in Middleton, TN.   Essential duties and responsibilities:  

  • Develop and implement the product cost process and support the product costing area of the business
  • Support the system cost process and implement changes as required
  • Organize and lead team efforts to improve procedures and controls with minimal supervision
  • Analyze bill of materials structure and system costing processes for accuracy and "best practices"; coordinate efforts to implement any changes/adjustments required
  • Effectively communicate and interact across departments and levels of leadership
  • Lead the annual re-standardization and master data accuracy effort
  • Support Plant Controller's efforts for implementing and maintaining internal controls for operations, sales, engineering and finance
  • Interface with manufacturing plant personnel and purchasing on Inventory and Costing issues
  • Prepare and maintain accounting reports and statements in accordance with GAAP and compliance with Company policies and procedures
  • Assist with physical inventory and outside audits as required
  • Analyze actual labor, material and overhead cost against Standard/Budget. Research and explain variances 
  • Provide timely and accurate accounting support as required for the following:
  • Monthly Reconciliations
  • Monthly Costing Processes
  • Maintenance of Standard Costs
  • Month-end financial closing
  • Perform Ad Hoc reporting
  • Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

Your profile

  • Four to six years of accounting, finance and/or relevant experience with exposure to costing/bill of material structure and experience is preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Engineering is required.Possess the ability to perform a variety of tasks under minimal to no supervision
  • Possess an advanced understanding of cost accounting principles
  • Possess an advanced working knowledge of computerized accounting systems and manufacturing process flow
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Office, including Excel, and Access or other database knowledge
  • Possess the strong ability to analyze and organize daily activities to support the organization in a timely and efficient manner
  • Must be able to organize, lead and execute team efforts in a time-sensitive environment to maximize results
  • Must be able to carry out job requirements at an elevated level of accuracy
  • Must possess a strong internal drive to provide exceptional customer service for internal and external customers
  • Possess strong data analytical and validation skills
  • Possess advanced skills in the use and understanding of manufacturing related software and the applications
  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must possess the ability to perform and make decisions at a high level of independence
