DRS Company

DRS Naval Power Systems (NPS) a multi-site operation responsible for $350 million of revenue with locations in Milwaukee, WI, Bridgeport/Danbury, CT, Fitchburg, MA, and High Ridge, MO with an employee base of approximately 900 employees. NPS is structured into four Lines of Business: Surface, Submarines, Nuclear instrumentation and Controls and Marlo Coil focusing on supporting the power and propulsion needs of the U.S. Navy.  We provide engineering, manufacturing and lifetime support of our highly engineered products.

Position Summary

Lead a program in the daily execution of contract requirements to ensure that cost, schedule and performance goals are met. Manage program integrated product team (from kick-off through conclusion of program). Communicate, coordinate, and collaborate with internal and external customers on existing programs and bid and proposal activities.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to program team. Ensure cooperation among team members in the execution of program and line of business goals

  • Collaborate with other departments and functions on the resolution of contractual, cost, schedule, and technical issues

  • Serve as the primary interface with the customer on all matters involving program execution

  • Develop and implement plans and schedules to execute contracts/subcontracts. Allocate and control contract budgets for labor, material, travel, and purchased services

  • Communicate clearly and concisely (written and oral) within the company, with customers, and others in the value chain

  • Perform analyses of schedule and cost on a formal and informal basis and develop and implement corrective action plans when deviations from budgets, schedules, or technical requirements are evident

  • Formally identify, assess, monitor and mitigate risk throughout the program life cycle

  • Ensure that conduct of contract requirements is executed in accordance with appropriate regulations and Company policies and procedures (i.e.: federal acquisition regulations)

  • Prepare for and participate in contract/subcontract negotiations; while representing Company's interests, ensure adherence to all government regulatory guidance

  • Lead bid and proposal activities; ensure that the requirements of the request for proposal are met in the preparation and documentation of bids and proposals

  • Support, communicate, and reinforce the mission, values and culture of the organization


Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years with Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Team oriented, dynamic problem solver; appreciation for a fast paced environment, ability to shift gears fluidly and wear multiple hats

  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills, particularly influence management and conflict resolution

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills

  • Experience in management of multi-faceted and technologically complex programs.

  • Experience interfacing and collaborating with  other departments and functions on a program including finance, contracts, engineering, logistics, manufacturing, and supply chain management

  • Experience throughout the program lifecycle from development through sustainment to include: proposal development, requirements decomposition, generation of system and subsystem statements of work and subcontracts, risk management, and continuous improvement efforts including implementation for cost reduction and performance improvement efforts

  • Experience with managing manpower planning, program reviews, scheduling, and budget control

  • Experience with metrics for assessing and reporting program progress, productivity, and variance analysis

  • Candidates must be a US citizen and meet DRS security standards as imposed by DoD, including the issuance of any necessary security clearance by the US Government within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.


Additional Desirable Qualifications Skills and Knowledge

  • Consideration will be given to candidates with naval, nuclear, aerospace, or defense program management experience.

  • Consideration will be given to candidates with technical or engineering backgrounds
