Requirements

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent

Experience: Demonstrates experience in basic carpentry, plumbing, appliance and electrical repair, vehicle, A/C maintenance, grounds keeping and janitorial work

Supervises: None

Critical Action Items:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Possess a current Texas driver's license
  • Have a clear criminal background check
  • Ability to comprehend, read, and write in English
  • Ability to supervise and document
  • Random drug screening
  • Provide and maintain a valid Texas Driver's License (Type C)
  • Be able to lift 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Observe all agency policies and procedures.
  • Keep direct supervisor and/or director informed of any safety issues.
  • Presents and maintains professional appearance and demeanor; adheres to dress code of position/work area.
  • Is courteous to all clients, visitors and staff.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff from other departments.
  • Maintains applicable current license/certification/training in Texas.
  • Required to report any suspected child abuse/neglect of a child immediate to supervisor, on-call supervisor, director and/or administrator immediately.


  • Measurable Deliverables:

  • Maintains and preforms minor repairs on all buildings, vehicles, and equipment
  • Maintenance grounds (or over-sees contracted work) as needed, including: mowing, weeding, sowing, spraying, general clean-up of open areas, roadways, fence lines, and parking areas.
  • Ensures that grounds and work sites do not present hazards to clients, staff, and guests
  • Assists with moving furniture, office equipment, etc.
  • Ensures that all buildings, grounds, equipment, and vehicles comply with applicable laws, rules, and OSHA regulations
  • Ensures that equipment and storage areas are kept clean, safe and in working condition
  • Takes initiative to identify and analyze problems and generates alternative solutions
  • Makes monthly inspections of all fire extinguishers
  • Janitorial Duties as needed, including: Sweeping, moping, dusting, clean glass, clean bathrooms, take out trash, change out light bulbs and meter readings



  • Requirements:

  • Able to use up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or a small amount of force continuously to move objects
  • Able to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with staff and residents
  • Able to organize and prioritize work assignments
  • Able to walk frequently; to stand occasionally for prolonged periods of time; to climb stairs and ladders occasionally; to squat, kneel, and twist frequently; to sit occasionally for a prolonged time
  • Able to receive instructions, answer phones, etc. with some background noises
  • Able to work under minimal supervision, to exercise judgment, and observe confidentiality
  • Able to develop and maintain professional relationships with staff from other areas within BCFS.
  • Ability and desire to work in a team oriented environment
  • Has basic knowledge of repairs of buildings, equipment, furniture, heating/air conditioning
  • Ability to perform moderately difficult manipulation such as use of hand tools and maintenance of equipment. Foot and hand-eye coordination required
  • Knows how to locate resources for repairs and purchases
  • Has good dexterity skills
  • Performs other duties as assigned
