Overall responsibility for the operation and control over paper machine; oversee and coordinate activities of employees, ensuring a smooth production process while upholding all company processes and procedures.
Reports to Paper Machine Superintendent
Accountable to Mill Superintendent for production. This role will clearly communicate job expectations; carry out planning and monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counselling, and disciplining employees; enforcing Group and SKNA policies, and procedures that contribute to the overall success of the plant.
Monitor process workflow; observing control points and equipment; implementing cost reductions; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments
Follows all pertinent ISO procedures & processes
Inspect products to verify conformance to specifications and directs setup and adjustments of machines
Study production schedules and estimate work hours required for completion of job orders
Establish or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules
Communicate and explain company policies (Group and SKNA) and procedures to workers and enforces them
Assist machine operators in interpreting specifications, blueprints, job orders and assigns duties
Analyze and support employees in resolving production problems -(troubleshoot when and where needed)
Motivate & encourage employees to meet and surpass production objectives while ensuring a safe work culture is maintained at all times
Work closely with other supervisors to coordinate activities between crews
Ensure cross training is taking place within Line of Progression (LOP) within and outside classification/develop employees under his/her supervision
Assure perfect attendance and punctuality of all employee under his/her supervision
Address any performance issues immediately in conjunction with HR
Responsible that his/her area of supervision is maintained well (good housekeeping), clean and safe work environment
Participates in training opportunities deemed necessary by management
Safe operation of paper machinery on the job training
Previous experience at other levels of papermaking process
Previous knowledge of papermaking process is required in order to direct day to day operations and troubleshoot problems.
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; conflict resolution; team building; coaching and leading employees to improve (developing personal growth); addressing complaints and resolving problems; documentation; and setting an example of superior behavior, attitude and performance.
Machines/tools used by employee in course of work performed: ladder, impact wrench, wrenches, hand tools, hammer, chain hoist, wire cutters, razor knife, broom, squeegee, water hose, computer equipment, gauges, indicators.
