Works collaboratively with other members of the health team to assess, plan and implement care for patients. Performs the duties and responsibilities of a nurse practitioner according to customary and generally accepted medical standards. Provides care in collaboration with assigned physician(s).
Greets patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner. Smiles, making patients/visitors feel welcome and important; makes direct eye contact; responds promptly to patients needs.
Promotes patient satisfaction through demonstrated commitment to providing excellent service by interacting in a friendly, helpful manner.
Communicates potential patient satisfaction issues as appropriate.
Performs clinical evaluation of patients with a variety of medical needs while maintaining high standards of care. Consistently demonstrates clinical competence in assessing, diagnosing, and treating health problems by following established guidelines and protocols. Clinical practice accurately reflects NJ Board of Medical Examiners regulations, Code of Ethics, the current NJ Department of Health requirements, and institutional policies and procedures.
Diagnostic Testing/ Screening/Immunization
Appropriately initiates laboratory tests, immunizations, and diagnostic tests/procedures as appropriate according to regulation and scope of practice. Demonstrates competent clinical skills with treatment plans using most effective screening test or procedure.
Provides appropriate education to patients and family members, promotes positive health behaviors and instructs patients in self-care skills through continued education and patient advocacy.
Prescribes appropriate medications and/or recommends over-the-counter medications according to NJ regulation and scope of practice. Prescribes medication within all policy and regulatory guidelines. Appropriately documents prescription refill information including name of medication, dosage, route of administration, quantity, and dispensing instructions.
Proactively reviews chart in advance of patient intake. Completes all authorized patient chart documentation in an accurate, legible and timely manner, including full signature and date after every chart entry. Provides accurate, timely, systematic and organized documentation of findings, recommendations/plan and education.
Participates in required QA programs/initiatives as directed. Assists in data collection and analysis.
Collaboration & Communication
Collaborates with physician(s) and consults/communicates effectively with other members of the health care team.
Completes all requirements to remain in good standing with NJ Board of Medical Examiner for licensure and regulations for medical staff membership. Maintains current CPR and/or BLS certification. Provides proper documentation to Practice Manager in a timely manner.
Independently participates in continuing education and maintains documentation. Develops a personal plan of development in area of clinical expertise, conferring with Collaborating Physician(s) on goals and objectives. Actively seeks out opportunities for self-development on an annual basis. Seeks approval in a timely manner to attend programs to achieve educational goals.
