Job Description:
The clinical radiation physicist has direct influence on the diagnostic, therapeutic and radiation safety procedures used on patients. Implements, coordinates, monitor, and evaluates all aspects of radiation physics within the department as related to equipment, personnel, and patients. Develops and directs quality assurance.

Major Responsibilities:

1. To assure the optimum use of radiation to produce a therapeutic outcome.

A. Performs calibration and quality assurance procedures on linear accelerators, and high dose brachytherapy equipment.
B. Monitors regulatory information to adjust hospital policy and practice as needed, periodically evaluates staff competence and credentialing.
C. Renders specification writing and assistance in new technology assessment for continued growth of the department..
D. Performs clinical supervision with physician/dosimetry/Sim tech/nursing/radiation therapist and other disciplines to coordinate care.
E. Ensures utilization of service resources that equipment uptime and functional quality are continuously maintained.
F. Follows dose prescription specified by the radiation oncologist.
G. Check chart calculations and chart documentation in collaboration with physicians.
H. Provides assistance to the physicians and staff when special physics procedures or measurements are required for complicated or new treatment protocols.
I. Responsible of handling, use, and storage of radioactive sealed sources.

2. Provide leadership and direction in accordance with departmental goals and objectives. Delegates duties based on position and level of competence and the complexity of patient's needs.

- Masters degree in Medical Radiation Oncology Physics
- Experience in cranial and extracrainial stereotactic radiosurgery and radiotherapy is essential. Knowledge of treatment planning systems including Pinnacle, Eclipse, Brainlab iPlan and Varian Brachyvision are necessary. Treatment planning utilizing Brainlab iPlan and Varian Brachytherapy are required. Knowledge of Aria R&V system is required. Working knowledge with Varian Truebeam, NovalisTX and Brainlab ExacTrac equipment are necessary. Familiarity with Wellhofer Blue phantom and Sun Nuclear Mapcheck and Profiler are desireable.

- Minimum of 5 years documented clinical experience in external beam therapy including SRS, SBRT and HDR brachytherapy preferred. Treatment planning with Brainlab iplan and Varian Brachytherapy are required.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:
- Board Certification is required
