The Company is presently seeking a self-motivated and independent litigation counsel to join the NRT Central Region legal group which conducts operations in the States of Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, Wisconsin, Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana and Michigan. This position is based in far west suburban Chicago, Illinois and some travel may be required.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
-Acting as Lead Trial Counsel for all litigation matters pending in Cook, DuPage and Kane County IL on behalf of the Company and its affiliated agents.
-Representing the Company and affiliated real estate agents in arbitration, mediation and regulatory proceedings.
- Investigating legal issues and interpreting/advising on laws and regulations involving varied substantive legal areas, including real estate brokerage, property management, contracts, regulatory compliance at the federal, state and local levels and licensing.
-Providing risk-management training and continuing education.
-At least five years legal experience required, preferably either with similar in-house legal experience or law firm experience.
-Membership in the Illinois Bar; membership in other state bars identified above will be a positive consideration, but not required.
-Prior jury trial experience at either the state and/or federal level required.
-The preferred candidate will have experience with and knowledge of real estate brokerage licensing statutes and regulations.
