Manager and Supervisor, Sterile Processing
Receives, cleans, decontaminates and sterilizes reusable patient care equipment, instrumentation, and supplies. Disassembles, inspects, inventories and assembles both surgical and house instrumentation and procedural trays. Maintains adequate inventory levels for all surgical/house instrumentation/trays and supplies. Assembles surgical case carts as required. Records and maintains required sterilization records. Serves as technical contact person for questions concerning decontamination and sterilization.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Must have successfully completed the IAHCSMM certification course.
Maintains CRCST status via required yearly continuing education units (CEU s).

Verifies prints and assembles the Perioperative Surgical schedule daily.
Coordinates perioperative room instrument and equipment needs utilizing the perioperative surgical schedule.
Coordinates suitable substitutes for specific instrumentation.
Coordinates room needs based on specific physician needs.
Serves as preceptor in the training and development of new employees.
Prepare and updates procedural manuals and reference materials, under the direction of the department manager or supervisor.
Guides and assists technicians in performing daily activities.
Maintains daily sterilization records.
Responds to instrument and equipment requests from physicians.
Assists in training of new employees and students.
Serves as initial contact for physicians and perioperative staff to coordinate solutions to instrumentation problems.
Cleans, decontaminates, assembles and sterilizes all reusable patient care equipment, in accordance with departmental policy and procedure, infection control standards and state and federal regulations. Discerns and distinguishes colors to identify bio burden on instruments and equipment.
Operates all sterilization and decontamination equipment, in accordance with departmental policy and procedures safely and efficiently.
Inspects, assembles and sterilizes all surgical and house instrumentation used throughout WVUH, in accordance with departmental policy and procedure. Discerns and distinguishes colors to identify bio burden on instruments and equipment.
Restocks accurately case carts with supplies, instrumentation and equipment as indicated by pick list generated from daily surgical schedule. Discerns and distinguishes colors to identify bio burden on instruments and equipment.
Restocks accurately Surgical Services including the Outpatient Services and Labor & Delivery supply, specialty carts and top track.
Stages and delivers case carts, stocking carts and equipment via clean cart lift, clean or services elevator.
Inventories and maintains adequate levels of all instrumentation and sterile supplies utilized throughout WVUH. Discerns and distinguishes colors to identify bio burden on instruments and equipment.
Reports and records missing and/or damaged instrumentation/equipment, in accordance with set policy and procedure.
Serves as initial contact for all departmental inquiries from customers.
Answers, records and responds to all requests via phone and/or in person in a courteous and professional manner. Telephone request are to be answered according to STAR standards.
Receives and returns unexpired items to inventory in accordance to set policy and procedure.
Maintains work areas in a clean, neat and orderly fashion on a daily basis.
Cleans work area prior to end of shift in preparation for the oncoming shift.
Attends regularly scheduled in-services.
Participates in the cross training for new surgical instrumentation and equipment.

Must be physically capable of prolonged periods of standing and walking.
Must be capable of lifting up to 60 pounds and pushing loaded carts weighting in excess of 200 pounds.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
