Phillips-Medisize, LLC is seeking a Cost Estimating Engineer
Receive, evaluate, and prioritize requests for quotations received through the RFQ process and internal requests from existing GID programs
Interface with Business Development Managers and customers to understand scope of new opportunities
Use GID s Design Development Process(DDP) to detail a development strategy based on inputs from our customer, management and facility engineering resources
Use DDP estimating workbook to build cost structure for NRE and planned expenses based on input from GID team
Convert outputs from estimating workbook into a properly formatted proposal for presentation to the customer
Work with Tooling Engineering to calculate part weights, cycle time, scrap, and other injection molding parameters to establish piece part cost and price, using estimating workbook.
Work with Manufacturing Engineering to determine assembly process flows, cycle times, scrap, and other manufacturing parameters to establish assembly costs and price, using established machine and labor rate
Collaborate with Manufacturing/Automation Engineers to establish costs for equipment / automation, and NRE to complete manufacturing development activities
Schedule and lead Quote Review meetings after all quotations are proofed for accuracy, consistency, and conciseness; and prior to issuance to the customer
Provide accurate and timely transfer of information between Project Team, BDM, Project Analyst & Customer.
Function as the subject matter expert in costing estimating and pricing proposal development, with deep understanding of the cost estimating model and knowledge in development of machine, labor, and floor space rates
Orient new engineer s/manufacturing personnel in quoting process
Support Project Engineers, Program Managers and other staff with information pertaining to pricing strategies and/or risk analysis
Participate in facility Cost Study and Account Review Teams
Extended travel to other facilities may be required to support business needs
Some programs may have vision requirements
Other duties as assigned
o Where applicable, individual is pre-planning safety into work activities to improve performance
o Proactively identifies safety concerns
o Complies with Environmental Management System program SOP s/WI, Policy & Program elements and encourages responsible use of resources
Actively participate in continual improvement/innovation, corrective action and internal/external customer satisfaction
o Completion of one of the following:
- Submission of a continuous improvement idea
- Active participation in a Phillips-Medisize sponsored committee or event
Examples include a - Rapid Improvement Event, a 5S/Lean event, Safety
Committee, Wellness Committee, Recycling Committee, Activity Committee, or
other Phillips-Medisize sponsored
B.S. Degree in Engineering or Finance/Accounting or equivalent education/experience
Minimum five years of technical experience in the injection molding industry with good working knowledge of tooling and processing manufacturing.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must be able to represent the Facility in a competent and professional manner with all people, especially external customers
Understanding of polymer processing, common secondary operations, and assembly methods
Working knowledge of engineering and manufacturing economics
Sound general understanding of business finance
Excellent skills in verbal communication, written documentation, and proposal development
Must be able to accurately and efficiently use CAD systems for file transfers, viewing and analysis
