EMT

The EMT works collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team and assists with emergency room procedures. Performs patient care activities within the scope of licensure and training. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of a patient; possess the ability to identify each requirements relative to his or her age specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's policies and procedures and skills check lists. Must be able to respect diversity of each individual s values, culture, spiritual beliefs, and other socio-economic issues in addressing the needs of patients, visitors, and co-workers. Participates in performance improvement activities.

PARAMEDIC

The Paramedic works collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team and assists with Medical Surgical Department procedures. Performs patient care activities within the scope of licensure and training. Assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to non-acutely ill patients and assists in maintenance of a sage and clean environment under the direction and supervision of the Department Director or Registered Nurse in charge of the team and/or unit. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of a patient; possess the ability to identify each requirements relative to his or her age specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's policies and procedures and skills check lists. Must be able to respect diversity of each individual s values, culture, spiritual beliefs, and other socio-economic issues in addressing the needs of patients, visitors, and co-workers. Participates in performance improvement activities.

EMT REQUIREMENTS:

* High school graduate or equivalent.

* Current BLS and ACLS Certifications required.

* Graduation from an accredited EMT Program; Certified for IV insertion preferred.

* Minimum of six months to one-year experience in acute or emergency care setting preferred or the ability to learn and demonstrate proficiency after successful completion of a training program.

* Must be able to take call as needed or assigned.

* Ability to read, understand and communicate effectively in English. Additional languages preferred.

PARAMEDIC REQUIREMENTS:

* High school graduate or equivalent.

* Current BLS and ACLS Certifications required.

* Graduation from an accredited Paramedic Program; certified for IV insertion preferred.

* Minimum of six months to one-year experience in acute or emergency care setting preferred or the ability to learn and demonstrate proficiency after successful completion of a training program.

* Must be able to take call as needed or assigned.
