State Street Global Advisors – Global ETF Design Director (VP)
The Global ETF Design Director is a dynamic new leadership role that will help lead and evolve the design vision for State Street's ETF business. As a member of the Global Marketing Leadership Team, you will build our global design team into a creative, digital-first global leader.
You will lead bringing our brand to life across the ETF business—from helping to set the art direction across our channels to evolving and implementing our brand design guidelines. You see the big picture, but also believe that phenomenal brands and great design comes down to execution and the details.
You have deep experience and a track record of conceptualizing, designing and producing campaigns, as well as leading design teams globally. You are a designer by trade and can lead by example and with humility. In addition, you’ll lead a team of talented designers, foster their professional development, and create the ideal conditions for them to do award-winning work.
Grow, lead, and inspire a design team. Promote continual creative improvement and actively contribute to a culture of creative excellence. Possess a hands-on approach to the work.
Collaborate with marketing leads and other business stakeholders on design projects and marketing campaigns. Guide the project briefing and scoping to ensure there is a healthy balance of results and phenomenal creative work.
Partner with Global Marketing Leadership Team (Brand, Communications, Advertising, Content, Digital) in executing the vision and voice for the brand’s visual storytelling from typography to illustration to photo direction. Continue to push State Street Global Advisors as a leading and innovative brand.
Advocate for designers, their process and proposed solutions
Help build a network of creative partners of freelance designers, illustrators & photographers.

- 10+ years of experience at a creative/branding agency or design-led consumer brand
- 5+ years of experience in a creative leadership role
- A strong, dynamic portfolio that showcases a finely tuned and nuanced aesthetic. Strengths in design systems, visual storytelling & art direction.
- Highly collaborative, driven by creative excellence and a self-starter. Skilled at bringing people together, highly organized, and has leadership level communication. Possesses strategic decision making skills that can nimbly weigh business goals alongside creative goals.
- Financial services experience desired
Location and Travel
This position will be based in Boston or London. Global travel will be required to support intra-company collaboration and agency/vendor relationships.
