Job Description:

Do you have a passion for data? Are you curious about the banking organizations regulated by the Federal Reserve? If so, an exciting opportunity as a Financial Institution Analyst within the Statistics department awaits you. You will be part of a team whose primary focus is to ensure the accuracy and quality of financial data that contributes to the monetary policy objectives of the Federal Reserve System. This is an important function, as the end users of these data include the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and other divisions within the Bank, including Supervision and Regulation. These data are also used by other regulatory agencies and the public more broadly.

Highlights of Responsibilities:

  • Analyze complex financial reports data to ensure quality, accuracy, timeliness, and conformity with accounting principles and regulatory requirements;

  • Respond clearly and knowledgeably to external and internal requests for information, including providing reporting guidance and explanatory information regarding unusual financial information;

  • Perform hands-on explanatory data analysis using a variety of tools and languages to process, model, and visualize bank credit data;

  • Share technical knowledge and perspective gained from research to internal and external audiences as well as presenting on System calls and at Federal Reserve workshop(s);

  • Research and evaluate current data quality editing framework and make recommendations consistent with Board requirements and priorities;

  • Identify and evaluate (including proof of concept) new technologies and techniques for Statistics business objectives;

  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts, including senior management at institutions and within the Federal Reserve System;

  • Contribute towards strategic initiatives at the Department, Bank and System level


  • A Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Data Science, or related field

  • Proficiency in SQL and relational database fundamentals

  • One year of work experience (including internships) in a related field

  • Experience with visualization and statistical programming languages (e.g., SAS, R, Tableau, etc.)
    • Ability to query, merge, aggregate, and collect data from multiple data sources using SQL

  • Strong skills in the area of:

    • Emotional intelligence and the ability to understand others' feelings and perspectives

    • Analytics , critical thinking, and the ability to manage competing priorities

    • Demonstrates ability to communicate across all levels of the organization , and the ability to work independently and within a team

    • Proactively identifies opportunities and puts forth ideas and solutions

  • US citizenship or Permanent Resident required
