Job Description:

UPS is seeking an experienced and dynamic Energy Supervisor to support various strategic sourcing initiatives within the energy procurement department to help define requirements and meet global business needs. If this sounds like your ideal opportunity, we want to hear from you!

The Energy Supervisor coordinates the acquisition and logistics of commodities and services, and analyzes and reviews inventory levels and consumption trends. He/She reviews energy industry tariffs and implements identified improvements. The Energy Supervisor creates, facilitates and analyzes RFP’s for various commodities. He/She confidently represents UPS at industry events and builds relationships with key internal and external stakeholders globally. The Energy Supervisor supervises and develop a small staff, sets strategic career goals, and provides hands on support. He/She also provides ad hoc support to the UPS Enterprise function after business hours and on weekends, and supports multiple UPS buildings.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Analyzes energy inventory reports to identify needs for energy commodity replenishment at UPS sites using data analytics tools
  • Works with the UPS district representatives and external stakeholders to communicate critical energy issues and solutions
  • Works with vendors to communicate UPS policies and service expectations
  • Trains, develops and holds direct reports accountable to establish performance levels and to achieve individual and group goals
  • Evaluates industry information, using data analytics tools, to understand current energy prices and make informed acquisition decisions
  • Reviews energy inventory and consumption trends to ensure physical energy deliveries can be stored at identified UPS sites
  • Conducts meetings with energy buyers to discuss and resolve energy supply and vendor issues
  • Reviews industry publications, using data analytics tools, to determine contract fuel versus third part purchasing decisions
  • Solicits feedback from energy vendors to improve relationships and ensure availability during emergencies (e.g., national disaster, etc.)
  • Determines employees' training needs to produce continuous development plans

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Financially savvy with ability to interpret financial reports and statements, understand impact, and recommend solutions
  • Understanding of UPS and vendor business needs and goals, with the ability to recommend vendors and assist with creating vendor contracts 
  • Analytical with ability to conduct data analysis using applicable tools to identify facts and industry trends
  • Experience supervising others - Preferred
  • Strong understanding of energy utility industry- Preferred
  • Strong data analysis skills: SQL and Business Intelligence knowledge – Preferred
  • Project Management experience – Preferred
