Location: Eureka, California
Unit Secretary for Medical/Surgical 3 at St Joseph Hospital.
Relief position; 8-hour Day shift. Weekends 10:00 - 18:30.
The Unit Secretary employs intellectual, interpersonal and technical skills to function as a receptionist for the department and perform general clerical duties, including order entry. Under the supervision of the Charge Nurse, the Unit Secretary greets and provides information to patients, families, visitors, and physicians.
Ability to communicate with physicians, SJHS-HC staff, and outside agencies.
Helpful, service-oriented approach is critical.
Computer proficiency in MS Windows and Office environment.
Ability to work independently, set priorities, organize and systematically handle a variety of tasks simultaneously.
Education: High School graduate or certified equivalency (GED) required.
Experience: Acute care experience preferred. Medical terminology required. One year of experience in the medical field is preferred.
Training/Knowledge: Successful completion of Hospital administered Medi Tech course for order entry within first 30 days of employment.
