Job Description:

We are seeking a motivated, self-starting, scientific leader to join the external cooperations team of the Oncology Cell Therapy Discovery Performance Unit (OCT DPU). The role can be based in either Stevenage, UK or Upper Providence USA. The mission of the OCT DPU is to discover and develop transformational TCR and CAR cell therapies for cancer.

The role will involve leading the development and implementation of strategy for our interactions with both academics and biotech/pharma in the cell therapy space, via liaising with colleagues from the Oncology Cell Therapy Leadership Team, Academic Liaisons, Business Development, Legal, IP, Early Commercial, and the GSK Health Care Professional hub. The successful applicant will take a central role in our business development strategy, including supporting scientific due diligence. The role may also involve supporting our Scientific Advice efforts by developing Advisory Boards, arranging seminars with invited speakers, and negotiating new Research Collaboration Agreements with academics. In addition, the role may take on program leadership responsibilities for externalized programs and be responsible for transitioning these programs to GSK at the right time.

The ideal candidate will have a PhD in a highly relevant area, a passion for the science and application of cell therapy in oncology, and experience working in matrixed, multidisciplinary teams in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry environment. They will have experience leading scientific programs towards the clinic. In addition, experience of performing due diligence and data integrity checks, including site visits, data room reviews, and authoring biology due diligence reports is highly desirable. Priority will be given to candidates with a proven track record of flexible thinking, and delivering complex projects on schedule while demonstrating good communication and inter-personal skills such as stakeholder management and a focus on team performance.

Essential Skills:

• Ph.D. or similar doctorates (i.e. MD, PharmD)

• At least 2 years of Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology industry experience

• Knowledge of immunology, cancer cell biology or closely related fields.

• Prior experience with due diligence
