American Renal Associates, a national provider of quality dialysis services, is experiencing rapid growth and we are searching for the right individuals to help continue our superb performance. We are currently accepting applications for the following position in our Corporate Headquarters, located at the modern and convenient Cummings Center in Beverly, MA:

Compliance Specialist

The Compliance Specialist assists the Compliance Department in implementing the American Renal Associate s Compliance & Ethics Program to ensure compliance with ethical standards, internal policy, and healthcare laws and regulations.


Assists the Compliance Officer to monitor, audit, investigate, enforce, and train staff on the rules relating to:

o Healthcare Fraud, Waste, & Abuse

o HIPAA, HITECH, and patient privacy and security issues

o Improper kickbacks and inducements

o Licensing & Certifications

o Patient Choice

Maintains a strong understanding of the ARA compliance program and policies

Assists with the auditing and monitoring of compliance activities for ARA s 200+ outpatient dialysis clinics and corporate offices

Serves as a resource to all ARA corporate and field staff under supervision of Chief Compliance Officer

Helps develop and maintain data tracking on numerous compliance tasks

Helps develop and implement data analytics to assess compliance risk areas and run targeted reports

Assists with auditing various corporate and clinical departments

Assists with investigations of potential compliance violations by analyzing data, interviewing staff, and drafting preliminary reports

Assists in drafting periodic compliance communications, training materials, policies and procedures, and reports for committees and boards

Develop, design, maintain, monitor, and prepare both recurring and special reports, utilizing spreadsheet and database programs

Runs exclusionary database checks monthly; and recommend action on potential matches

Primarily responsible for obtaining medical director certifications

Helps to develop and maintain department standard operating procedures

Various ad hoc projects as necessary


A Bachelor s degree or equivalent in healthcare administration, business, pre-law, or a related field

Minimum of three years experience in healthcare compliance, auditing, data analytics, and/or related fields

Highly organized, detail-oriented, and responsible

A task master that can juggle many recurring tasks and keep the team on top of monthly deadlines

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as the ability to work as a team

Ability to be proactive, take ownership of projects, and see them through to completion

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to all levels of the organization and to provide empathy in difficult interpersonal situations

Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and accurately and in a timely basis;

Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion in identifying, selectively escalating, and resolving issues

Strong analytical and organizational skills, including the ability to assess data, identify inefficiencies, and suggest system improvements

Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; Microsoft Access experience a plus

Maintain strict confidentiality with regard to confidential patient and business information

Healthcare compliance certification a plus
