Job Description:

The Specialty Pharmacy Technician supports pharmacy workflow by providing timely turnaround of Specialty Pharmacy medications. This includes extensive communication with Cigna customers, health plans, claim processors and internal staff to resolve processing problems.

Summary description of position:
Work the Specialty Pharmacy order from all workstations & know all the various department procedures. Walk orders through the system as needed for STAT delivery. Answer all incoming calls in a timely & professional manner. Work with the Lead and Supervisor to suggest system enhancements, new business procedures & good customer service processes.

Major responsibilities and desired results:
?Process Specialty Pharmacy medications within established guidelines, while providing detailed documentation
via internal and external systems
?Use various computer applications both internal and commercial to perform, but not limited to: item entry tasks,
verify eligibility, setting up patient shipments
?Work in various claims processing systems.
?Support Customer Service in providing accurate and timely responses relating to order status, claim handling
issues and special processing circumstances as they arise.
?Provide exceptional customer service and responses in a timely and professional manner whether through
incoming calls or outgoing calls.
?Initiate and/or respond to customer correspondence pertaining to new prescriptions, claim adjustments, payment inquiries, processing questions, or other product related inquiries.
?Walk orders through the system as needed for STAT deliveries.
?Assist supervisory personnel in the development and maintenance of injectable processing.
?Assist in providing on-the-job training to new staff members when requested.
?Demonstrate good decision making skills and problem solving techniques as well as a strong ability to multi task
?Other job related duties as assigned

?Ability to obtain Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board and must be registered within 1 year from hire date to complete the certification. (Failure to obtain a CPht within two years may result in the termination of employment.)

?High School Diploma or equivalent.

?Problem solving skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.

?Ability to achieve current department standards in both Quality and Productivity is required.

Preferred Requirements

?Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (If you already have a CPhT, you will be required to furnish proof of such certification on your hire date and maintain the certification).

?Bachelor's Degree

?Telephone experience in a customer service environment is preferred.
