Land O'Lakes Dairy Foods division is a leading marketer of a full line of dairy-based consumer, foodservice and food ingredient products across the United States. The Human Resources Manager is responsible to lead People and Culture Strategy at Vermont Creamery.
Strategic partnership with the Senior Leadership Team in planning, development, implementation and evaluation of HR activities to support business goals while maintaining strong organization culture.
Leads Human Resources functions of Labor and Employee Relations, Performance Management, Recruiting, Learning and Development, EEO/AAP, Benefits Administration, Best Talent & Best Place to Work Survey Action Planning, and proactive / positive Employee Relations, and Compensation.
Ensure B Corp certification is maintained and worker’s metrics improved with enhancing existing programs and creating new ones.
Leadership and evaluation of site culture, and takes a proactive role to lead plant forward with regards to Employee Engagement, Supervisor Development, and fostering an environment that embraces continuous improvement, transparency, collaboration, and driving world class results in cost, quality, service, people, and environment.
Develop Talent management strategy to recruit, retain and motivate staff in a rapidly growing environment
Ensure company "family culture" is preserved and enhanced through unique programs and communication plans
Ensure organization maintains and improves B Corp certification score related to worker's metric
Leadership role with management and hourly employees in development, application, and interpretation of employee relations and labor relations policies and practices, and partnering with the HRBP of Dairy Foods, Director of Labor and Employee Relations and HQ Legal Counsel
In partnership with Plant Leadership, leads projects and initiatives identified from Best Talent Survey, and Best Place to Work survey and other employee feedback sessions to improve positive employee relations, culture and communication throughout the plant(s) by working collaboratively with plant leaders, managers, and hourly employees to foster, engage and inspire the workforce
Manage process of “Change Management” with the recent acquisition and rapid growth of the business to ensure staff engagement remains strong and employee culture preserved.
Provides Strategic Human Resources leadership partnership regarding Human Resources matters with plant operations, sales and Administration. Resource for Managers and Directors regarding Human Resources issues and compliance
Lead and coordinate Performance Management in accordance with Company direction on Top Talent. Provide employee leadership development, coaching and counseling
Creates strategy and implements new approaches and procedures
Assists Vermont Creamery Leadership Team with the application of disciplinary actions and improvement plans to establish a work environment characterized by consistency and fairness.
Liaises with Corporate Human Resources, Labor and Employee Relations, and Legal
Monitor implementation of policies concerning wages, hours, and working conditions, to ensure compliance with terms of FLSA
Is fluent in local market information, such as reference documents and statistical data concerning labor legislation, labor market conditions, management practices, wage and salary surveys, and employee benefit programs, to best meet the needs of our employment needs
Coach leaders on how to appropriately manage minor employee relations issues
Supervision, direct work for two administrative employees
Manage investigation and regulatory compliance with State and Federal agencies. Lead investigations into complaints of illegal discrimination or harassment. Respond to appropriate agencies appropriately
Timely and thorough investigation and response to Connect calls
Responsible for all internal HR communications - setting tone and internal branding.
Identifies and implements opportunities to improve the Employee Experience. Assesses current programs for employee wellbeing and happiness and propose innovative ideas to improve existing policies
Leverage Best Talent and Best Place to Work survey results
Manages and administers wellness budget in collaboration with the Wellness team
Plan and delegate company social calendar (summer BBQ, holiday party, monthly breakfast, etc.)
Develops “great place to work” programs (wellness, volunteering, open book, personal development, etc.)
Develops and implements employee recognition programs
Staffing and Recruitment:
Develop salaried and hourly recruitment strategy geared to deliver Top Talent for Vermont Creamery based on department needs that define and commit to performance criteria and cultural fit
Assess and improve recruiting process to align with Vermont Creamery cultural fit and Land O Lakes recruiting practices
Develop Vermont Creamery brand in local region as "employer of choice" by representing organization in state gatherings and conversation around workforce, recruiting, and policy making
Influence strategic organizational development decisions such as Performance Management, succession planning, and career development
Execute recruitment strategy by aggressively recruiting for well-qualified candidates from a variety of sources, managing selection process to include interviewing, assessing candidates, screening, recommending finalists, and filling the staffing needs
Develop and review diversity (AAP) plan with focused recruitment strategies
Training and Development:
Analyzes training needs; develops learning and development strategy, and implements training delivery with plant leadership to exempt, non-exempt and hourly workforce groups; facilitates various training activities; monitors compliance with required training protocol
Manage and administer training and education budget in partnership with departments leads for talent development and culture
Bachelor’s degree or higher
PHR and/or SHPR Certification
3 or more years of human resources generalist experience
Experience working in a mission/vision or value lead company
Experience must include hands-on responsibility for the full scope of human resources activities
