The Corporate division encompasses the core operational support for all Land O’Lakes businesses. Land O’Lakes is seeking a Data Scientist who also has a strong background around data engineering aspects. The position is highly technical and hands on, where the resource will be using advanced analytics techniques such as machine learning, neural net, deep learning etc. to solve agriculture, CPG & supply chain related business questions. The ideal candidate will be somebody who understands the business needs around analytics, convert that to business use case, gather data for that use case and perform analytics using open source technologies. The person will also be responsible for driving innovation and process improvements using traditional and open source technologies. The position will work closely with IT leaders, line of business managers, and technology partners to plan, prototype, and build innovative data management and analytical solutions.


Primary Job Responsibilities: Acquiring, manipulating, transforming, and visualizing datasets. Understanding business problems, and formulating statistical models and evaluation metrics. Developing machine learning, optimization, or other modeling solutions as required. Evaluating algorithms and recommending solutions Communicating results to stakeholders. Build data model with data governance aspects to it both for relational and non-relational data sources. Profile data to measure quality, integrity, accuracy, and completeness. Develop and implement tools, scripts, queries, and applications for extract, transform and load using integration tools such as Apache Nifi.


Experience-Education (Required): Bachelor's Degree in Business Analytics, Computer Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field. Strong knowledge around statistical techniques such as linear regression, time series modelling, clustering etc. Strong development experience in Hadoop using technology such as Sqoop, Hive, Oozie, Spark, Nifi.  Strong development experience in Python, R.  3+ years designing & developing analytics solutions.


Competencies-Skills (Required): Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to present compelling proposals to business partners, technical teams, and executive leaders. Able to effectively work in team environment with other software engineers, data scientist and program managers to design and drive business use cases around analytics. Contribute to group knowledge sharing platforms and best practices. Dedicated, with a demonstrated ability to take on hard business problems and translate that to technical solutions. Data scientist who is highly motivated, passionate, and quality-oriented with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. Ability to handle multiple competing priorities.


Experience-Education (Preferred): Specialization/experience in Agriculture, Marketing and/or Supply Chain a plus.
