Job Description:

  Develops and executes a wide range of communication materials for internal audiences that promote associates' understanding of and participation in accomplishing the company's goals, and that sustain and improve associate morale. Provides excellent customer service by meeting or exceeding communication expectations. Assists with other communications projects, both internal and external, as assigned. 

Nine Square News – Responsible for the production of the company’s twice-weekly internal email news blast. Serves as Content Captain for The Nest, Purina’s Intranet. Leads the ideation and creation of Nine Square TV videos.

Conducts research, reporting, writing and photography for The Nest and various other communication projects.

Assists with company events, managing specific aspects as needed, including PetCare Pride Day, State of the Company, Best in Show Awards, Holiday Gathering, Family Day and the Winter/Summer Showcase events.

Creates PowerPoint presentations for various company events and meetings.

Designs and creates various desktop-published communication pieces, including posters, flyers, banners, brochures, etc.

Assists Manager, Corporate Communications, and Director, Internal Communications, in their responsibilities and with special projects.

Perform all other duties as assigned.


Interacts with associates at all levels in the company, including senior management.

Assists with management of various video projects.

Interacts with and supervises the work of printers, designers, contractors, interns, photographers, videographers and other vendors as needed.

Delivers superior customer service and seeks ways to continuously improve the communication process, as well as individual skills.

Meets or exceeds all deadlines and expectations.

Keeps current on activities and projects within the company and within the industry.

Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication; emphasis in Journalism or Public Relations. 

Experience (Years/Type): 
1 to 2 years’ experience in fast-paced, intensive writing environment. 
Experience in intranet/internet writing & publication, event management, video production and photography. 
Experience in a Corporate PR department preferred.

Excellent reporting & writing skills required
Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, PhotoShop and Excel 
Ability to take publication-quality photographs 
Business management skills preferred
