Position Overview -

The Global Buyer for Non Medicated Additives manages development and implementation of a global sourcing strategy for a category of micro ingredients in conjunction with the Global Lead Buyer(s). This role is responsible for identifying, creating, and capturing value from competitive advantages emerging from Cargill’s global scale and market insights. The position has accountability for achieving hard capture targets for the category. Leads global supplier contact for strategic negotiations, and provides direction to guide negotiations of select ingredients supported by Regional Sourcing Leads and local buyers. Develop insights that link together value creation activities initiated by Global Innovation (SMT) and works with Regional Sourcing Leads on deployment and assessing local commercial viability. Manages global communication of market intelligence for category. Offers real-time global market intelligence and pricing direction to Ingredient Sales. Works with Global Supply Chain to ensure timely supply of raw materials. Accountable for establishing central supplier rebates and/or preferred supplier contracts.

Principal Accountabilities -

30% Category Expertise: Develop global expertise for ingredients within micro categories in area of responsibility. Synthesis of all technical and economic drivers of ingredients in category, in all global markets. Develop relationships with key business partners and understand global competitive dynamics of categories. Create global sourcing strategies that leverage CAN’s leading market position to establish a competitive advantage in marketplace. Lead category contract negotiation with global and regional suppliers.

20% Deploy Global Sourcing Strategy: Align with Regional Sourcing Leads, SMT and local buyers to develop a dynamic global micro ingredient sourcing strategy that optimizes value creation for Cargill, through ensuring long-term local competitiveness of regional businesses. Communicate global market drivers and apply them to regional businesses. Incorporate local feedback to ensure local competitiveness.

15% Pricing and Margin Management: Communicate detailed market intelligence with appropriate audiences to support commercial approach according to customer segment, competitive positioning, and market trends – including Citura team.

15% Value Capture – Accountable for global sourcing initiatives, including the appropriate value capture mechanism. Implement, measure and report category value creation to GSD.

10% Continuous Improvement – Evaluate and deploy ingredient improvement actions with support from the Strategic marketing and Technology Group. Lead transition of ingredient technology/sourcing strategy with local formulation and supply chain team. Identify new ingredient ideas and communicate to SMT, Global Lead Buyers.

10% Ingredient Portfolio and Supply Chain - Provide guidance to the team and to the local operations teams to optimize ingredient matrix and inventory. Oversee compilation of demand forecasts. Ensure purchase agreements and pricing are properly recorded in their Global E-Procure system. 

Required Qualifications -

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Procurement or Animal Science/Nutrition or Agro-Economics
• 4+ years of purchasing and supply chain experience, preferably in animal nutrition industry
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks, meet deadlines and make decisions that impact business results
• Exposure to customer segmentation and pricing strategy
• Demonstrated strong problem solving, attention to detail and organization skills
• Complex contract negotiation skills
• Strategic thinker, understand competitive economics
• Advanced Analytical skills
• Travel 10%

Preferred Qualifications -

• 3+ years working for micro ingredient producer in sales or research and development.
• Ability to evaluate relative value nutrition characteristics of various micro ingredients
