Edelman is looking for a Senior Copywriter to join our growing San Francisco team.  This team is working on some of the world’s biggest and most exciting brands and is responsible for award winning creative, digital and social campaigns.   Edelman is a great place to grow your talent and hone your craft. We are at a critical juncture in communications where the online market conversation has never been louder, further reaching, nor more active.  Social media and digital marketing are now not “nice to haves” in the communications mix, they are essential to a brand’s overall image and success.  


The Senior Copywriter’s role is to bring our clients’ brand stories to life through creativity and the written word. As part of the creative team, assignments will range from concept development (everything from taglines to campaigns) to the creation of long- and short-form content. You’ll work in a highly collaborative environment with respected colleagues in Art/Design, Account Management, Strategy, Technology and Production.


Beyond being a talented copywriter, you should have a strong working knowledge of marketing, design, and a passion for digital and social media. You can also turn on a dime and work on a wide range of projects and brands, often in the same day (which is where having a great sense of humor comes in really handy). You'll be challenged to think creatively and find groundbreaking solutions to achieve our client’s business and marketing goals. At your core, you’re a written word perfectionist and can demonstrate an ability to think conceptually and show a thorough grasp of structure. Our clients range from technology to fun teen brands, so demonstrating diversity of experience with the ability to mix up your tone is key.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Own the brand story for our clients across all social, digital and PR channels, maintaining a consistent voice and vision
  • Drive high level concepting, tactical program ideation and copywriting for a wide range of marketing outputs from short-form video and social postcards to web experiences and offline activations 
  • Successfully communicate (present and sell-in) creative ideas and the strategic rationale behind them
  • Utilize data from brand monitoring reports, and craft smart, engaging content 
  • Collaborate with agency team members from creative, account, production, PR, strategy, planning and analytics to produce smart, powerful work
  • Manage creative staff & freelancers on projects you are leading and coordinate effectively with other discipline leads to complete projects

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Excellent writing and editing skills with demonstrated 6-8 years’ experience in marketing, advertising or social media
  • Willingness to push your craft, get your hands dirty and make great things
  • Social fluency and a solid understanding of how to drive conversation and engagement across social channels
  • Ability to think strategically and conceptualize creatively
  • A bachelor’s degree, preferably in English or related major
  • Strong presentation and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
