Job Title:Student Summer Assistant - Madison County


Department:FAES | Clark County-JM



Responsibilities are basic and routine in nature.This may include performing administrative duties in an office, assisting in a research laboratory, aid faculty/staff in supporting academic programs or patient care.Duties will be clear and direct.The Student Assistant will require excellent customer service and strong organizational skills and will represent the department and the university with the highest degree of integrity applying OSU mission and shared values.



THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN MADISON COUNTY and Hours are flexible. This position can work up to 28 hours if taking classes and up to 38 hours during the summer and/or academic breaks.



OSU Extension, Madison County is seeking to hire 2 college students to work with the 4-H and Agriculture and Natural Resources Program for May -August 2024. Students will gain real-world experience in scouting, sampling and evaluating agronomic crops in Ohio, as well as designing and developing educational Extension and outreach tools to communicate scientific research results to the broader community. Applicants should have experience or interest in one of the following areas: crop science, agronomy, agricultural communications, ag business and policy, 4-H, youth development and leadership, or natural resources. Applicants should have strong communication, organizational and computer skills, be self-motivated, enthusiastic and demonstrate good people skills.


Preference will be given to candidates available for 4-H Camp setup, camp and tear down June 4-13 and the Madison County Fair July 4-14, 2024.


Interested students should be 1) currently enrolled in an undergraduate program, 2) just finishing their undergraduate degree this semester, or 3) planning on starting graduate school this fall.


Applicants must be able to work independently and as a team. They should be professionally motivated to help farmers make research-based management decisions and develop youth into tomorrow's leaders. Students must have a valid driver's license, a reliable personal vehicle and must be willing to travel around the county over the duration of the summer. All mileage will be reimbursed at the standard University rate ($0.655/mile).
