SummaryThe EDI Assistant Director position at Tulane National Primate Research Center (TNPRC) is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of the EDI projects and providing administrative and leadership support for the TNPRC EDI programmatic and strategic workload. The person hired will directly report to the TNPRC Director and Chief Academic Officer and will work closely with the Chief Diversity Officer and the School of Medicine Assistant Dean of EDI. The TNPRC EDI Assistant Director will also assist in the preparation of reports which includes statistical, demographic, and subject matter data related to EDI trends, including preparing such figures and data for widespread publication and distribution.
The TNPRC EDI Assistant Director leads, collaborates, and supports EDI initiatives supporting BIPOC and other underrepresented and underserved communities: LGBTQ+, disability, social class, international, veterans, religious minorities, and other intersectional identities and lived experiences. The TNPRC EDI Assistant Director works closely with TNPRC senior leadership and colleagues at all levels within the TNPRC, as well as those in other schools and campuses, and with university leadership to nurture an equitable, diverse, and inclusive TNPRC community of faculty, post docs, students, and staff.
The EDI Assistant Director will chair the TNPRC's EDI Working Group and implement and maintain programs focused on TNPRC employee EDI development (e.g., Strategy for Tomorrow), EDI development and racial equity. The TNPRC EDI Assistant Director is extremely organized and efficient, a self-starter with the ability to communicate effectively, and a willingness and flexibility to help meet the EDI goals of the TNPRC in addressing issues of EDI in TNPRC while collaborating with the larger Tulane EDI infrastructure. The person will also serve as a conduit of information regarding Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion activities, represent the office in other university-wide collaborations, and on occasion, represent the office in programs in public. In doing so, the TNPRC EDI Assistant Director will work with Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Office in collaboration and partnership with university initiatives to develop and guide strategic initiatives at the TNPRC to improve equity, diversity, and inclusion.
* Advanced degree (masters or doctorate) in a related field* At least two years of relevant experience* Specific precautions against and/or be immunized against potentially hazardous agents are required.
* EDI training and certification * The ability to demonstrate sound skills and experience in the areas of program planning and implementation, supervision, advising, assessment, and evaluation.* Vision, energy, strong organizational and leadership skills, proven experience in the creation and implementation of multicultural training and programming.* Experience in strategic planning, especially in the realm of higher education.
