Location The EHS Specialist is located on site in Chandler, AZ with travel to our Eastern Pennsylvania sites required. Safety is at the core of our company's culture. As an EHS Specialist you will lead the key safety and safety programs and overall EHS risk evaluation at our North American equipment manufacturing locations in Arizona and Pennsylvania. You will engage directly will employees at all levels, providing technical and leadership oversight. This position has 4 major accountabilities: Provide leadership and functional oversight for safety programs and processesManage the EHS & Security risk assessment processManage the technical aspects of ISO 45001 and 14001 certificationsAct as technical lead on special projects which have significant regulatory compliance implications or other high safety and health risk. You will also manage maintenance of safety metrics, regulatory reporting and lead or participate in root cause analysis. You will also lead the EHS risk assessment process. Programs include chemical exposure assessment, industrial and office ergonomics, respiratory protection, hearing protection, mold/lead/asbestos management, and remediation. Additionally, this position will handle all environmental reporting for the facility, maintain necessary EHS records as required by law and/or company policy, maintain site safety metrics and lead or participate in root cause analysis of incidents and near misses. Job DutiesImplement & maintain a safety culture across all areas of the organization.Develop/Deliver employee training material and act as the subject matter authority relating to all aspects of EMD's Safety program.Conduct site safety audits and inspections.Complete comprehensive reports of findings including correction plans to ensure compliance.Examine workstations to identify hazards in the workplace.Promote a proactive safety culture at all levels of the organization, with heavy focus on employee engagement towards the safety program.Design and implement safety-related programs in conjunction with/ corporate resources as well as Operations leadership.Conduct safety audits on personnel, equipment, and materials dailyEvaluate, assess and alter safety procedures and policies for the benefit of employees.Analyze accident reports, evaluate injury case studies based on available facts, and train others to properly comply, investigate, complete reports etc.Ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies and standards (including OSHA, etc.)Track incident metrics and analyze findings to identify and act on data trends.Lead the site incident review committee meeting, engaging company leadership to communicate key safety messages and takeaways from serious incidents.
Who you are:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in safety management, industrial hygiene, engineering or similar discipline 5+ years of direct work experience in the safety or industrial hygieneExpertise in behavior-based worker safety programs and solid understanding of EHS regulatory auditing40% domestic travel required to meet business needs
Preferred Qualifications:
ASP, CSP or similar safety certificationProficiency in continuous improvement and root cause analysisLeadership and Influence skills based on a foundation of technical competency
