Description: Automation & Controls Engineer - Manufacturing Company - Portland, OR
The primary role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on automation enhancements and process visualization systems. This includes supervising electrical tasks, providing training, and resolving electrical issues, particularly those related to PLCs or networks. The role also requires leveraging and enhancing existing technology to boost the efficiency of all maintenance and operations. Additionally, it involves offering support, planning, direction, and supervision to the electrical team. The responsibilities extend to implementing preventative and predictive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and overseeing equipment upgrades and overhauls related to the plant's electrical systems.
Compensation: $100,000 - $120,000 Base Salary + 6-8% bonus. Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD, LTD, 401k match, 20 days PTO.
*A $5k sign on bonus or other relocation package will be provided for candidates moving.
The ability to work different shifts depending on the business unit needs is required.
Overview:
Improve data content on actual applications based on facility requirements.
Train Manufacturing and Electrical & Automation team members on the capabilities of digital tools implemented.
Provide technical support for the maintenance team during assigned shifts and on-call support during off-shifts as required for troubleshooting.
Proficiency in working with PLC programming, preferably Allen-Bradley families.
Familiarity with VFDs, HMI's, and industrial communication protocols, especially Allen-Bradley.
Understanding of Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
Good working knowledge of servers and systems.
Experience with industrial instrumentation.
Familiarity with industrial power and control circuits.
Ability to read and understand schematics and electrical drawings.
Support root cause analysis using process data.
Supervise electrical and control work performed by contractors and electricians.
Coordinate with other departments to resolve electrical issues.
Implement a disaster recovery plan for critical equipment.
Provide support for engineering projects.
Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and function effectively in a highly demanding environment.
Interact effectively with outside vendors, production operators, team leads, and maintenance trades.
Ensure the execution of preventive maintenance schedules for the electrical distribution system, control equipment, and instrumentation using SAP PM.
Execute maintenance and inspection plans to ensure the reliability, sustainability, and security of the electrical distribution infrastructure using CMMS.
